Outdoor movie nights are rapidly becoming a fun favorite for communities everywhere, and Paso Robles is no exception. San Luis Obispo Tribune introduces Paso Picture Show as a fresh outdoor movie initiative that transforms the stunning lawns of local wineries into film venues. This initiative not only offers a cinematic escape but also enriches the allure of San Luis Obispo County's beautiful vineyards.

A Memorable Kickoff

The inaugural event took place on August 16, featuring a screening of the timeless classic "Tombstone." Guests experienced the joy of sipping local wines while munching on popcorn as they settled in for the film displayed on a massive inflatable screen. The atmosphere buzzed with laughter and community spirit right down to those who showed up in full cowboy attire (obviously winning the "Best Dressed" award).

The excitement continues with an anticipated screening of "Sideways", happening on September 20, once again at Bianchi Winery. This upcoming event marks the 21st anniversary of a film that has charmed audiences since its debut in October 2004.

Founders with a Vision

The creators behind Paso Picture Show, Wilder and Bradley, moved from Pasadena to Paso Robles, bringing their film and television backgrounds with them. They aimed to create an engaging way to keep wineries bustling later into the evening, allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of Cali sunsets and country stars, all while taking in your favorite movies that have long since left the big screen. As Wilder noted in the Tribune article, “It’s so much more fun when you watch a movie you’ve seen a hundred times with a whole community of people, and everyone’s laughing and cheering together.”

The outdoor movie experience expands beyond simply viewing a film. It's about crafting unforgettable evenings. Bradley Simmons captured this idea perfectly, expressing, “If you want to go watch just a regular old movie, go to the movie theater, but if you want to be outside, under the stars, in a beautiful vineyard, and drinking wine with a group of fans, it’s like the movie becomes part of a bigger experience.” The founders aspire to build a sense of community where everyone can join in celebrating the magic of cinema in a picturesque outdoor setting.
